Code of Conduct – Juniors

For all members under 18

At our Chess Club, we want everyone to enjoy the game, learn new skills, and feel safe and welcome.
This Code of Conduct helps us treat each other with respect and make chess fun for everyone.


When You’re at Chess Club, You Agree To:

🧍‍♂️ Respect Others

  • Be kind and polite to other members, players, coaches, and adults.

  • Listen when someone is speaking.

  • Use good language—no shouting, teasing, or rude words.

🎯 Play Fair

  • Follow the rules of chess and the club.

  • Don’t cheat, distract, or try to upset your opponent.

  • Shake hands before and after games (or say “good game” online).

📚 Be Ready to Learn

  • Try your best—even if you’re still learning.

  • Ask questions if you don’t understand something.

  • Accept advice and coaching with a positive attitude.

💻 Be Safe Online (if playing online or using digital tools)

  • Use only approved platforms or websites.

  • Be respectful in chat—no bullying, spamming, or inappropriate messages.

  • Never share your full name, phone number, or other personal info.

🛡️ Keep Yourself and Others Safe

  • Tell a coach or adult if someone makes you feel uncomfortable or upset.

  • Follow safety rules for the space you’re in.

  • Don’t run, push, or mess around during sessions or events.


⚠️ If Rules Are Broken

If you break this Code of Conduct:

  1. You may be given a warning or reminder.

  2. Your parent or guardian may be contacted.

  3. You may have to sit out for part of a session or tournament.

  4. In serious cases, you might not be allowed to attend for a while.

We want everyone to succeed and feel included—so we’ll always try to help you learn from mistakes.
